I decided to participate in the course in June 2021. Among the many online courses of the Nanchang University Foreign Exchange Center, I chose Yale University’s public health and clinical courses. Facts have proved that this is a very rewarding choice.

Why did you take the course? There are many reasons, such as a lot of knowledge that can be learned in the course, the improvement of professional English, and communication with friends with different educational backgroundsAnd so on, the most important point, I think this will be a rare life experience. I haven’t had any experience of studying abroad, but I am curious about the academic atmosphere and educational philosophy of other universities, especially the world-class universities, that make this university become more and more outstanding in the long-term inheritance. How does the teacher teach, how the students learn, how the teacher communicates with the students, what requirements the teacher has on the students, and how to guide and motivate the students, etc. At the beginning of my Ph.D. admission in 2019, I had a plan to study abroad, but because the global control of the cover19 epidemic is not ideal, it has largely hindered people’s on-site communication. Therefore, this online course is just It provided me with a good opportunity to experience part of the education at Yale University. And the course offered this time is the statistics that I am least good at, and it allows me to improve this weakness.
After nearly two months of study, I did meet my expectations for this course when I signed up.
The first is the learning mode. Before the first week of study, the basic situation of the students is understood through the survey questionnaire, and then divided into groups. The group members cooperate, help and promote each other, study together and complete several small tasks and Final report. My team has four members. Xingzhuo is the team leader. Xiaopan and Xiaomiao and I are team members. Although we don’t know what we are grouped by, our team is indeed a very harmonious, loving and active team. Team leader Xingzhuo is very leadership, capable and responsible. Each task can be assigned according to the characteristics of the team members and give full play to their respective strengths; Xiao Pan’s spoken English is amazing, and his language skills are solid; Xiao Miao is enthusiastic, lovely and courageous. Try; and I have a solid foundation and can cooperate well with you in various tasks. The good group atmosphere allowed us to exchange views about life and study at home and abroad in addition to studying, which broadened our horizons.

The last thing worth mentioning is the advanced course design. There are materials before class, efficiency is emphasized in class, after class tasks are closely related to the content and application of the course, and the questionnaire survey is reviewed to understand students’ problems in the course, timely adjustment of follow-up content, group learning is conducive to student communication, teamwork and improve The ability to respond to relatively difficult tasks, etc., has a number of measures to ensure that the course content is maximized and accepted by students. This model is different from domestic education, and it is what I think is the biggest gain from this study. I believe that if I have the opportunity to take the stage in the future, I can learn from it and do better.
