MIT Game Lab - UN SDGs Future
ChangeMaker Camp

FCC - Future ChangeMaker Camp

Program · Introduction

Students learn to design games to communicate UN sustainability goals with the help of MIT Game Lab research scientists and UN advisors. Learning is achieved through doing, through the MIT Mind and Hand approach that blends critical thinking with practical application. Students will receive liberal arts education from the MIT faculty and the UN SDG experts, participate in Game for Good workshops, produce their design documents and present them publicly.

 Students will also meet industry experts and experience cutting-edge technology through Tech X Night. Finally, they receive high-impact certificates, individualized feedback and multi-dimensional evaluations. Outstanding participants may receive recommendations from MIT faculty and join the MIT Game Design summer program in the US.

MIT Liberal Arts Education

Taught by MIT faculty and UN experts, lectures teach students to think critically, innovatively and interdisciplinarily by encouraging them to consider the history, sociological importance and educational potentials of games in human society.

Students will work on team projects and present them publicly, honing their competences in collaboration, communication and leadership.

Shape

“Game for Good” Synthesis Project Challenge

The Changemakers Camp allows the youth to present themselves and their talents on a fabulous stage, i.e. in front of MIT faculty, UN experts, and technology industry leaders.

Students will showcase their work designed to facilitate UN SDG goals through 5-minute “roadshows” and “oral defenses.” They will then receive constructive feedback from the advisors and participate in competitions for valuable awards. The awarded work may be publicly exhibited on MIT websites.

High-Impact Certificates

Changemaker Camp has 6 challenges that examine the participants’ abilities and potentials from multiple perspectives. Every student who meets the MIT faculty standards and completes all 6 challenges will receive “Future Changemaker Completion Awards.”

The outstanding participants will receive “Future Changemaker Completion Awards” (20% of participants) and even recommendation letters from MIT faculty. Teams may also be awarded for their best performances in product design, technical applications, and commercial innovation.

Connections with the Best

participants will have the opportunity to meet and communicate in-depth with MIT faculty, UN experts, technology industry leaders, and high-achieving US college students.

Such connections will help the participants broaden their academic network and better plan their future endeavors.

Paths to Future Opportunities

participants from the Changemaker camp have multiple paths to advance their interests and pursuits:

  1. MIT Game Design Summer Camp (Boston, USA) allows the students to further improve their designs and implement their ideas into playable, digital games;
  2. UN Headquarter Summer Camp (Geneva, Switzerland) allows the students to undertake two weeks of apprenticeship with UN officers, to deepen their understandings of UN SDG goals;
  3. Research Fellowship Program (RFP) invites the participants to further their pursuits of knowledge in the form of remote research.

The students will conduct intense, 20-week research suited to their interests with faculty from their dream schools, to produce rigorous scholarship and strengthen their college applications.

Closing the gap between international students and world-class learning experiences, ElevatePro seeks to foster a generation that thrives on creativity, intellectual vibrancy, and impactful leadership.
